When hybrid and POD fulfillment makes sense
Print-on-demand is not a replacement for stocked inventory. Most healthy programs use both, for different reasons.

Teams often ask whether a store should be print-on-demand or stocked, as if one has to win. In practice the question is which items belong in which model.
Print-on-demand carries the long tail
Size ranges, secondary colorways, and occasional items are exactly what POD is for. Nothing sits in a box waiting for a buyer who may never arrive.
Stock carries the items people expect fast
The hoodie everyone actually orders, the onboarding kit, the item that has to ship this week: those earn their place in inventory because speed matters more than variety.
The hybrid part is operational, not philosophical
A hybrid store only feels simple to buyers when order routing, production coordination, and shipping updates are handled behind one storefront. That coordination is the actual work, and it is the part SSM runs.
